What is Reiki?
The word "reiki" is comprised of two Japanese words.
"Rei" meaning "Universe" or "God" and "Ki" meaning "life force" or "energy".
Here, I am speaking of "Reiki" as a healing** modality.
Reiki is a completely natural way of reducing stress and healing mind and body,
that compliments treatment from your regular physician.
Reiki healing is non-invasive, and does NOT involve
diagnosing ailments, or the use of prescription or non-prescription medications.
Reiki sometimes involves
"laying on of hands", but that is not necessary and the quality of Reiki is in no
way diminished without it.
Reiki is NOT a religion. It beautifully compliments all belief systems.
**Note: Healing does not always mean cure.
It can also mean pain relief or ease in transition from this life to the next.
Reiki can NOT "magic away" the illness.**
there have been scientific discoveries made to support this concept.
As early as the 1930's a distinguished researcher, by the name of Harold Saxon Burr,
believed that, even before symptoms appeared, changes could be detected in the
energy field around the human body.
In more recent years, scientists have learned to track the changes in these energy fields
while others can stimulate healing with magnetic fields.
In the 1980's, pulsating biomagnetic fields being emitted from the hands of
a Therapeutic Touch practitioner were found by Dr. J. Zimmerman.
It was also found that the pulsating naturally goes back and forth through all the therapeutic
frequencies, enabling healing to be stimulated throughout the body.

My Path With Reiki
My path to learning reiki was a fairly short
one compared to those persons I know.
I first heard about Reiki from my aunt, Lee Long, who is a Reiki
Master (in this context, "Master" is intended to mean "teacher").
She was using Reiki to help her mother (my grandmother)
battle with a rare liver cancer.
I didn't ask too many questions then although I was interested.
I had alot going on in my life
and Reiki wasn't destined to be a part of it at that time.
Then about a year later,
I had a friend in New York suffering from an unknown ailment
in which the pain was so debilitating that
she missed school so much she finally had to get a tutor
and be home-educated.
I asked my aunt to see what she could do.
My aunt sent long distance Reiki and
also added my friend to the "healing list" she belonged to.
While I am not able to say that Reiki helped my friend physically
with her illness
(later we found out it was something called adhesions,
which was scar tissue that had attached itself to her insides
and had them sort of pulling together),
I do believe Reiki did help her mentally to hold up under the constant pain,
under not knowing what was going on,
numerous doctors, who either said the pain was in her head, it was allergies
or just couldn't give her an answer at all.
This is tremendous pressure for a 16/17 yr old to go thru for over a year.
But she had a strong will to fight and go on.
When she would start to get down I would have my aunt
put her on the healing list again, as well as pray for her myself,
to help her make it thru.
At this time, I still did not know much more about Reiki,
other than my aunt had helped me with a terrible sinus headache once,
which was a miracle to me.
I knew that it was a very powerful thing but
while I was still interested in it,
I guess it wasn't my time to learn more.
Late in the summer of 1999,
I had a friend visit me and my family at our home.
During his visit he had a heart attack.
I cannot
divulge his medical information, but
when my aunt was around and he was having angina pain she would
use reiki to help him while his other meds took effect.
it was then that I decided or was guided to learn more.
Before his trip home, which I was driving him back,
my aunt attuned me to Reiki 1.
I now am not only his Reiki practitioner,
but I also take care of his diet.
I received my Reiki 2 attunement April 6th of 2000.
