And God took a handful of southerly wind,
Blew his breath over it and created the Horse...

Music on this page composed by J. Salm, 1998.

I have had a love for horses for as long as I can
remember.
I think I inherited it from my mother.
I was lucky when I was growing up, to almost always have horses
around. My mother even says I cut my teeth
on the reins.

She told me once, that she had put me on top of her horse as
she was leading him back into the pasture.
I slipped off and she was scared to death that I was hurt
because I cried so loudly.
She quickly picked me up and checked me over, and
found nothing wrong with me, so she put me back on top
of the horse... and I quit crying!

As fate would have it, due to circumstances beyond my control, etc. etc.,
my horse, Mahib, and I have been separated again. I am in Alabama and he is still
in Missouri, under the care of my mother. I don't know when I
will be able to move him to be with me but hopefully it won't be too long.
Until then I won't be able to get any pictures on here of me riding him.
However with any luck my mom will be able to send a few more pictures of him soon! :)

Mahib-1999

This is Mahib Sahid, my full blood arabian gelding. He is about 28 yrs old(in this pic, about age 26). This is a bad hair day for him - early spring before he has had time to shed off the old rough coat from the winter.

***UPDATE August,2001***
Hibby still resides in Missouri.(2 years after my move to Alabama)
I am not sure, with his age creeping up on him, and my situation in Alabama, if he will ever be able to come live with me.
I miss him terribly, but currently the "almighty buck" stands in our way.
I am considering donating him to either a handicapped farm or
the girl scouts for use as a school horse.
This is a very hard decision for me, but I am also trying to consider
what would be best for him. He hasn't been ridden regularly
since I moved and my trips to visit are not nearly enough to keep him in shape.
I believe he has alot more to offer, even with his age.

Here are Aryn and Taz on "Hibby" just this past summer.(2001)
